Análisis de la accesibilidad para personas con discapacidad en restaurantes ubicados en el malecón de Puerto Vallarta

Abstract

This document presents an analysis of accessibility for individuals with disabilities in restaurants located along the Malecón of Puerto Vallarta, and its influence on the competitive development of these establishments. The objective of this research is to identify the resources and conditions that restaurants on the Malecón of Puerto Vallarta possess to adequately serve people with disabilities, to document the necessary elements for providing dignified and inclusive service, and to analyze the impact of these factors on the business’s competitiveness. The relevance of the problem is supported by a contextual analysis at the international, national, state, and municipal levels. These data allow for the delimitation and justification of the research subject. A theoretical framework is presented, which includes a conceptual framework with key definitions, as well as a referential framework on the topic. The methodological framework is also outlined, where the research approach is qualitative, descriptive, and cross-sectional. This approach seeks to understand the perceptions of restaurant owners or managers regarding accessibility, describe the current conditions through interviews and direct observation, and carry out the study at a specific point in time. Furthermore, the data collection procedure is explained. The study analyzes a small sample with the goal of refining the research instrument in a second stage and complementing the required information. Finally, the study’s conclusions reveal the shortcomings that these establishments face by not adapting their facilities to meet the needs of individuals with disabilities.
