Abstract
The present article analyzes the interrelation that exists between the implementation of criminal policy in Mexico, and the criminological and psychological mechanisms present in vicarious learning. Initially, a conceptual and deontological delimitation is established between criminal policy and criminological policy, said delimitation is proposed from the analysis of their characteristics, sciences that intercede and their field of competence. Likewise, thanks to a historical analysis and review of background, the study examines how the publicity of punishment has been a constant factor in Mexican criminal policy since pre-Hispanic, colonial, revolutionary and until contemporary times, operating through fear and example as tools of deterrence and control.
